Our fishing inspector, carver of beautiful gemstone pieces and just a talented good guy and friend. Also friends of the late Esma from our Bernina St Lukes days. United together for ever.

So sad to hear of the passing of Keith. I met him 33 years ago when I first started work at the NZ Herald and I class him as a real gentleman of the old school. Many early morning visits with him for a chat at 4 am was the norm. He talked often of his family and the love he had for them. I often said I would like to catch up but life seemed to get in the way as it does. My sincere condolences to the Torckler family he was well regarded by staff and management of the NZ Herald team.

It is with much sadness to hear of the passing of Keith. Now with Esme. Our memories of knowing you from Cornwallis and in Huia will remain with us forever. Such gracious and caring friends, the world would be a lot nicer if there were more people like you both together once more. Much love to the family, Annette & Paul Ashley

Although I only met Keith a handful of times, I know he was cherished by his family and had a wonderful relationship with the late Esma. My heart goes out to the family for their loss, which will be felt very deeply - in particular to my dear friend Sue, who will miss her dad. Allow the grief, my friend, seek the comfort of those around you and remember the wonderful bond you created - let it carry you through this darkness.
