Tributes

I'm here way too late but I really don't think you'd have minded. Though we knew eachother by association really, you appear in so many memories of mine. You gave advice, compliments, and care just when people needed it. Almost automatically you gave and gave no matter who or what or how. This world is worse off without you in it but your impact lives and glimmers out in the tiny ways you saved the people you knew and their ability to love and care and give the way you did. One of my greatest regrets will be failing to get to know you better. I'm not sure where we go when we leave, but I hope that wherever you are you are in the most serene peace, experiencing the comfort you so generously gave out.

The livestream was both heartbreaking and a beautiful tribute to William. We met William at Kiwigrass 2021 - It was a perfect weekend at Lake Karapiro, sunny weather, great music and laughs. Know that we'll always remember him in that perfect setting. You are all in our thoughts. Love Tina & Ian xx

Jenine, Nathan and Raley. We truly appreciated the opportunity to be able to be with our New Zealand family in the celebration of William's life during the telecast service this morning. William's farewell was a fitting tribute to an amazing young man. In 23 years he touched so many lives in a loving and positive way. His memory will always be that of a cheeky smile, a kind word and a loving heart. Love, The Mulligans

Dear Jenine, Nat and your beautiful family, I had the privilege of meeting your adorable son when my son Jamie was living in the same 'Manor' as William a couple of years ago. On meeting William I was struck by how polite, engaging, open and delightful he was. What an incredible human being. I was delighted he was my son's friend. I can't imagine the grief you are sustaining. My heart bleeds for you. I have some photos of William with his flatmates somewhere and I've been looking for them. Please send me an email so I can forward them when I find them. The service was.... I'm lost for words Love, Julia

Sending so much love to your family. The world has lost a real bright spark. I am endlessly devastated that my opportunity to get to know William got cut short. Even so, I knew how special he was, and how much he cared for the people in his life.

My heart breaks for you all. I wished I had known William. I’m happy that he was really into music and performing. He had a kind, loving heart, great sense of humor and was smart. The casket was decorated with lots of thought. I loved that. The service leader was outstanding. Thank you so much for broadcasting the service and allowing us all to be there.

I was *so* fortunate to have my brief times with William. He was always so kind, so funny, and just so damn cool. I loved being able to sit next to him at KiwiFoos and discuss life, technology, the future, and roleplaying games. Once, as a teenager, William said I was "cool". I never told him, but ever since—whenever I was having a hard time, whenever my mind went dark—I would try to remember that this fucking awesome teenager told *me* (a boring middle aged man) that *I* was cool. That one kind and genuine comment has sustained me much more than I've been willing to admit. William, you touched everyone around you. We're so lucky to have had you in the world. ♥

Sorry we could be with you all in person today, but the livestream was beautiful. You are all in our hearts and thoughts x

I remember him wearing the Kiwi costume at San Jose second night party. He could bring style to anything and always with joy.

William was so much fun at Kiwigrass 2021, he was a natural MC, a talented muso and very entertaining, where he joined our band, the Melling Station Boys, without any rehearsal, on stage to adorn props and join in on a song. William was such a beautiful person. Thankyou Jenine Abarbanel and Nat Torkington for bringing him into this world and his wonderful presence made our world a better place.
