HOWELL, John Alexander: Reg no. NZ10561, RNZN, WW2. Peacefully in the presence of family at Whanganui Hospital on Sunday 5 February 2023, aged 95. Forever loved and always remembered father of Pamela (deceased), Carolyn, Bronwyn (deceased), John, Paul, Chris, and Darryn. Wonderful “Pop” of 17 grandchildren and 15 great-grandchildren, who will always remember him fondly. A service to celebrate John’s life will be held in St Stephen’s Anglican Church, 23 Maunder Street, Marton on Monday 13th February at 1.30pm followed by private cremation. Donations in lieu of flowers to Marton RSA. Messages may be left on this tribute page or can be sent to PO Box 68, Marton.

Condolences are with you all with the passing of John . He was friends with mum ,Alma Robb, they would often chat on the phone which I am sure she will miss. Sorry we cannot attend today. Thoughts are with you all, he certainly was a Marton icon. Maxine Robb and family
So sad seeing this today. I will fondly remember the man that used to take care of the Marton Pools and us kids that swam there. Many years we used to always look forward to opening and seeing your smiling face. Yes you could be tough but only when needed and some of us needed it.
