Tributes

A very fitting service for Pop, short and sweet haha. So gutted I couldn’t be there to celebrate his life with you all. Very fond memories of Pop and the morning phone calls we would have at 7:00am everyday. You will be missed dearly Pop! All my love to the rest of the family x 🤎

What a lovely service. Trevor you spoke well and your Dad would be proud. As I said to you the other week. My most vivid memory was the ginger beer explosion under the kitchen sink. The sticky mess, not to mention the broken glass. I only have fond memories of your family. Rest in peace Ray.

Raymond was the name we all called him within our immediate family. He was seven years my senior so in many ways I was probably a pesky little brother to him, but one day a big kid was chasing me and wanted to knock my lights out until I hear Raymond say "Leave my little brother alone" -At that moment Raymond was my saviour and hero. Raymond loved animals and sailing. He was always coming home with puppies or on one occasion he came home with a duck. He dug a large hole in the back yard and filled with water so the duck could have a swim. I still can't remember what happened to that duck it may well have ended up being roasted. One Christmas our Dad said to Raymond that they had to get one of the chooks from the hen house ready for diner. Raymond would have been about 12 or 13 years old. Our Dad told Raymond to hold the hen while Dad proceeded to chop off its head. Raymond got such a fright when the head came off that he let the hen go which it then took flight spirting blood everywhere and ended up next door so Raymond had to go and retrieve it so Mum could prepare it for diner. When he started work he bought a 1937 Hillman Minx so to make it sound groovy and if it was going faster than it really was he fitted a straight through Copper exhaust pipe but the police pulled him over and told him to fit a muffler which he did reluctantly.
