To Helen, that verry " special " Lady ! De toute la vie Je me soucie Dans la mort Je m'endort . . .
Helen took me into her home while I visited New Zealand and got me a job working alongside her and her friends in the vines. She and Pat were so welcoming and kind to me and I'll never forget her and her strong spirit.
A lovely aunt who while I was growing up checked on me every Saturday with her mother my gran and her sister came in woolworths to see me as a Saturday girl. Then I had the privilege of seeing her again when she visited her brothers and sister in the UK. Aunt Helen you will be missed even though you may not have seen us very often but proud to be a part of your family too. R. I. P. Gran is collecting her children to be with her again. Love always Dawn. X

I represented Northern Ireland at the international midwives conference in Sydney and took the opportunity to fly to New Zealand and had an amazing time staying in Coopers Beach with Helen and Pat. To say they went over and above to make my stay memorable would be an understatement! Private moments with Helen when Pat went to bed (secret Susie knows) Seeing Helen again in my home town was another memorable meeting was a privilege to know such and active diverse lady. Dympna( Pat’s goddaughter )
I knew Helen for years only from pictures and letters that Pat would send us in NYC. She always reminded me of Jackie Kennedy. So simply beautiful. I didn't get to meet her in person till 2003. My Mom (Pat's sister Josephine) and I traveled from New York and had a wonderful visit. She and Pat were so welcoming to us (and to my children who had traveled there at different times.). She was so independent and maintained a love of life that I so admired. We were thrilled to have her come to visit us with Suzie for my mother's 90th Birthday. It was a pleasure to take them around New York. We are saddened to hear of her passing but am grateful that she didn't have a long debilitating illness. May she rest in peace. Wishing Suzie, Selwyn, Rob and Natalie and all of the family the comfort of their best memories. With Love, Mary and family
Dearest nana You were always there for me my sisters, cousin Riki and countless others I’m sure. The times visiting as youngsters was a lot of fun from street parties where grandipat made us wooden pirate swords to swimming in Algies bay and running around your beautiful garden. The older I got and more of the world I started to see I realised and respected why you chose Algies bay. Every time I come back it is humbling walking down to the water, visiting the donkies and seeing the salty dog. The view from yours and grandipats belcony is one to envy and one to savour in my memory forever. Visiting Jersey in 2019 with my partner Amanda was a dream of mine for a long time seeing where you grew up and lived. It was very so real and such a beautiful place. Crazy to think you picked apples for the Germans there. The only negative thing I can think of about was the time you were looking after me and my sisters at Hatsfield beach and she scrubbed me down with Jiff as i decided sliding in mud was a good idea and I was filthy. Now I look back and think you probably could’ve chucked some bleach in as well. Your such a beautiful lady with a big heart and strong spirit, I was cut short the time I wanted to spend with you this yr but I will see you again. Love you lots Nick.
