Uncle, we will miss your inconspicuous smile and the shock on peoples faces when they realize you speak fluent niuean, your smile would grow into laughter and you would remain the subject of conversation for hours after you leave. You did not give up! Thank you for everything you did for us, THANK YOU! You are a very particular man who liked things a certain way and I can relate. The work you did through the things you built is inspirational! I will miss you drive up to work, get official business out of the way rather urgently, steal an extra minute or two to catch up with the week and how you were coping before you'd leave with a quiet "m, mafola" I haven't caught up with bone but I know he misses you and the occasional beer. I now wish I had made it for a cold one. Take care up there and stay well. Love you.
Uncle Des was the strong silent type. He was a man of actions more than words. He loved his family and was so obviously proud of his children and grandchildren. I remember him fondly for his woodworking mastery, his warm and cheeky smile and his generosity. We remember him for his tree and hedge pruning aye Pat! For his love of rugby league and rugby. My love and condolences to Andrew, Yve, Dee and bro Pat. To all his grandchildren too. He may have passed but the many fun memories of him will bring a smile to my face and comfort in this sad time. Much love from Shannon, Mailili, Leila, Sarai and Dean Rex in London.
Des was a man who had a special aura about him. He loved watching and talking sport. He was very proud of his family. He will be dearly missed. RIIP Des
