Tributes

Many thanks for the lovely tributes to Geoffrey. I know that he enjoyed the Meet and Eat gatherings - although he only had ten days out of Hospital after a long recovery before Sepsis struck him down again - he was already looking forward to catching up with his friends there the following week. Geoffrey was a courageous battler through his life - up for any activity or challenge. He was a keen biblical scholar with a strong faith. He loved reading and music, walking, kayaking and his friends and family. Geoffrey will be very much missed. In the New Testament's Letter to the Hebrews we read "Remember where you stand.....You stand before Mount Zion and the city of the living God, heavenly Jerusalem, before myriads of angels, the full concourse and assembly of the first-born citizens of heaven, and God the judge of all, and the spirits of good men made perfect, and Jesus the mediator of a new covenant......"

And God shall wipe away all tears from their eyes, and there shall be no more death, neither sorrow, nor crying, neither shall there be any more pain; for the former things are passed away.” Rev. 21:4 Condolence to the Family of Geof and my sis. Marisa.

Betty, Ailsa and I worked together at the Rotorua Hospital and walked every day during our lunch breaks. Geoff walked home from his job at the hospital at the same time, and we would invariably meet up with him as he waited to be led safely across Arawa Street. Some days, he would listen for the slowing down of traffic and would know that cars had stopped for him. With our hearts in our mouths, we would watch him urge his beautiful guide dog forward. He was a character and had a great sense of humor as we exchanged witty hellos. Great memories with a very special man.

It was great having Geoff as a regular at Meet n Eat each week and he came to several Men's Barbecues at Rotorua Baptist. I also met and chatted with him when I came and mowed the lawns for a couple of years. He was a good man.

Geoffrey has been coming to Meet & Eat quite regularly. He enjoyed the food and interaction with the people. He will be missed.

May the comfort of the Holy Spirit be with you Marisa and the Dempsey family at this time. The Angels are rejoicing as He has called Geoffrey home no longer suffering but at peace.

Marisa, may you and the family of Geoffrey find peace and comfort through our Lord and savior Jesus Christ during these difficult times.

Jeffrey I remember when I used to support you with CCS Disability, the walks around the block that we used to do, the car trips into town to the Dr and other places that you needed to get to. Our weekly Bible Group, how after our shared dinner, we played board games and how you loved to be part of it all. Giant Snakes & Ladders which made us laugh and Train Dominoes which you always used to win first. Don’t know how you did it, not being able to see and the Bug game, you always got first in that too. We will miss you Jeffrey, always head of the table at dinner. But I know you are in a better place. A beautiful place where your guide dog will come bounding towards you, so happy to see you again as us also when it’s our time to go. We will meet again 🙏😇 Lynda
