The stories he told are the kinds of stories other kids could never believe were true when I talked about my Grandad. To say I am eternally grateful to have a man like William Keith Brockelsby as my grandfather is an understatement. Growing up and living in Australia makes it difficult to stay connected but I always felt loved and connected when I would receive a birthday text or email each year. It pains me to know that you didn't get to meet your great grandson Jack but just know he will know your stories and the kind of man you were. Your opportunistic nature has influenced me and everyone in the Brockelsby family and that will live on for generations. I am sorry I couldn't make the funeral despite my efforts to get my passport in order, but I am glad the rest of the family can be with you. Rest easy Chief I love you Grandad

Dylan Keith Brockelsby

Brock was a decent man and good citizen with a well-functioning brain. Although reared on Matamata land later occupied by hobbits, film convoys and famous folk, he enjoyed landing in Australia, Canada and the Antarctic. Why he stayed in Edmonton all those years is a mystery to me but I clearly recall the day he and my sister returned to NZ and settled in Cambridge. Lynette's parents (Maurice and Lorna Boshier) were thrilled when Brock (an engineering student at Ardmore) snuck under the fence and married their daughter (then at the nearby Ardmore Teachers College). The Hastings Boshiers were also happy when Shelley and Mark landed on this planet. Most recently, I was sitting in Canada but very excited to see one of Keith's grandsons involved in very worthwhile rescue activities in Hawke's Bay - triggered by Cyclone Gabrielle. Although Brock has been a bit fragile of late, he would have been thrilled to see members of his family in leadership positions and working for the community. I hope the grandchildren will remember William Keith BROCKELSBY. Keith made it to 91. A good innings for the son of a Matamata farming family.

Keith was a very trusting and genuine man. We had some great times together in the years I was close to him. He was also a very clever man with the electronic stuff he used to make. I am sure he will be missed by his family, and I am saddened by his passing. RIP Keith.
