Colin was the most affable gentleman, and a totally unflappable person. I worked with Colin from the early 1990's on the many electrical projects that he estimated throughout New Zealand. Over the next 20 years or so that we worked together, his sense of humour and experience was very much appreciated. RIP Colin - regards Warren Karlsson

Uncle Col, You were an absolute ray of sunshine in our lives. Your love, kindness, generosity, support and friendship made you the wonderful man you were. We were certainly blessed with the best of Swindale uncles. I recall my last conversation with you about 18mths ago, I had a message from home that you wanted to talk to me, my first question was 'am I in trouble'? you chuckled, said 'no', why what have you done now', then a big laugh. I can still picture your big cheeky smile, sparkling blue eyes and can hear you laughing. There are so many wonderful memories and so much to be thankful for. You did so much for all our families and asked nothing in return. You bought us our first colour TV, Deb and I were so excited. You would randomly turn up for a surprise cuppa. Your support while we negotiated the loss of our sister Diane will never be forgotten and again when you got heard that mum was in her last days, so you made your way to Tauranga to be at her side and support us in our grief at losing our mum and your only sister. You arranged for Michael to meet me at the airport and drive me to Tauranga in the hope I would be there in time to say my goodbyes. (Poor Michael was given the task of telling me that she had already passed if I didn't already know). Thank you for the bringing the beautiful Barb into our family and the fabulous cousins. Now you and Barb are once again reunited, your family are all back together again with Nana and Grandad and friends and family that have already passed. As the next generation of Swindale's prepare to step into the role of senior's and guide the future Swindale offspring we will step up, step forward, look out and take care of each other. We will continue with antics to make you laugh and roll you eyes. . We will treasure Aunty Delle until it is her time to join you all in heaven. RIP Swin. you will be missed every day. Love always your mischievous niece Vick

Deaf Colin, I loved and appreciated your strength and warmth as my uncle. Thank you, Colin and Barbara, for all the support you gave Mum & Dad, honestly you guys along with Uncle Les, Delle, Ruby were the best, Deafness was not a barrier but something you embraced, that taught me so much, you're love and caring shone through time and time again. I know you'll all be together again having a great time and laughing at all our antics down here. Say Hi to Mum and Dad and all that have passed before. Love and hugs to all the extended Swindale family no matter where in the world you are.

Sending much love and condolences to all the extended Swindale family. Uncle Colin was such a great guy. So loving and supportive, such a great sense of humor, and always ready for a party! :-) Having just gone through this with Dad, I know what a mix of emotions you must be feeling. Sadness, yes, and gratitude for his long life and being able to be together and at his side at the end. May your warm memories of him comfort you in the coming days. I’m looking forward to celebrating Dad and Uncle Colin in rousing kiwi style with you all in October. Love, Anne
