Tributes

Thank you for making streaming available for those of us who could not be there in person today. The way she has been honoured today has been truly touching. I too share memories of that magical house and all the interesting nick-nacks and fluffy Lucy bustling around. Nan Jan encouraged me in my love of baking as a young girl and encouraged me through my pregnancy as an adult. I know she has sent many a prayer up for me and my little family. I will always treasure her sincere gaze and the mischievous twinkle in her eye. Forever remembered and deeply missed. Sending much love to all who have known her. From Tessa, Anthony and Oaklyn

Jan was a dear and valued friend of almost 40 years. I first knew her as a work colleague at Carrington Hospital when I was newly arrived from the UK. We became good friends and maintained contact after I returned to the UK in 1998. Visiting each other in our respective homes in subsequent years. There are many happy memories to reflect on. Jan was a kind and loving person and her family was everything to her, she will be sadly missed.

It is a great blessing to reflect on having known and fellowshipped with Jentle, Jovial Jan … a Beloved Jewel in God’s Family. While contemplating our many meaningful personal interactions, my abiding memories of Jan are of her … Gracious and elegant presence … Warm, convivial welcome and unconditional acceptance … Attuned listening ear and genuine interest, support … Relevant, articulate speech and considered words of encouragement … Abiding Godward gaze and spiritual fervour … On earth, Jan was a delightful, complementary, faithful helpmeet to Owen … and they together produced two great oak trees in Peter and Andrew … who have gone on to stand tall, stay the course and strongly fight the Good Fight. And now in Glory, while we mourn her absence from so many treasured kindred connections … we rejoice that she is now Jubilant forever, Safe and Secure in the Loving arms of Jesus. Having completed her temporal God-ordained assignment, we celebrate Jan's coronation, reminiscing the same words of Apostle Paul … "I have fought the good fight, I have finished the race, I have kept the faith. Now there is in store for me the crown of righteousness, which the Lord, the righteous Judge, will award to me on that day—and not only to me, but also to all who have longed for his appearing.” With much gratitude for our forever friendship in the bonds of Christian love … Nick
