SARKIES, Douglas Herbert (Doug): Passed away peacefully in Nelson with Robyn at his side, on Monday 24 April, 2023, aged 91 years. Beloved partner of Robyn Gordon, and much loved husband of Christine Sarkies (deceased). Cherished father and father-in-law of Catherine & Wayne Sinclair, the late Jayne Sarkies, Robert Sarkies & Vicky Pope, Duncan Sarkies & Nicola Marshall. Treasured Grandad of Curtis & Justine Sinclair, Regan Sinclair & Kirsty Coombs, Stanley Sarkies and Max Sarkies. Loved Great Grandad of Jordie Sinclair. Older brother of Isobel, Joan, Owen and Keith. Lived life to the full because “Hey, life is for living!” A service to celebrate Doug’s life will be held at the Shone and Shirley Funeral Home, 164 Tahunanui Drive, Nelson at 1pm on Saturday 29 April. Firstly our condolences to Robyn and the Sarkies family. Doug certainly lived life to the full, his passion for Life was immeasureable. The many cards nights, scrabble games, Sudoku with breakfast, adventures to Wanaka, sleeping under the stars, Takaka and the Nelson region. Picnics at Rabbit Island. The walks along the beaches both in Dunedin and Nelson districts. Our wedding that we got to have at Doug and Chris's home a memory that we will always hold dear. The many pool party's we got to attend. We were fortunate to spend many holidays with Doug and Mum, Chris, they were wonderful times. When both Doug and Chris came to Christchurch more memories were made, none will be forgotton. Due to health we are unable to travel to funeral, however our thoughts are with you all.
