Tributes

Aunty Taini was a loving, generous and thoughtful lady who has been an integral part of both my life and my sister Wendy’s. She was family. We watched the 1974 Christchurch Commonwealth games on her colour TV. We stayed with her when Mum & Dad went on a trip to Asia. We borrowed and swapped books - she loved to read, we petted and loved bubba her cat, and Honey & Toby the first of many corgis she shared with Jeannie her neighbour. I first tasted mutton birds at her home and she would periodically produce Mrs Lodge’s spicy snack mix that rapidly became a Taini special. And when it was birthday time, both Wendy and I would receive a gift because Taini didn’t want one of us to feel left out. Taini has been a constant in our lives for almost 60 years. We loved her and are so grateful for the gift of knowing her and being loved by her.

Dearest Auntie Taini, I am so sad I will not see you again in this life. You have always been so loving, caring and interested in the lives of your nieces and nephews. We were all proud of your longstanding reputation as a sportswoman and coach. As well, you were a really good woman. You have been in my heart and I have thought of you often. You will be surrounded by your loved ones now and will be free again. I look forward to seeing you beyond the veil. xxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxx
