Darling Antoinette The best memories of you when you came to the UK with Cedric and John and moved in next door. My parents and you formed a wonderful friendship and John and I are firm friends to this day. I came to NZ twice and had the pleasure of your hospitality and kindness’. You were always warm and wonderful, adored by your family and certainly by me. I will never forget you, and I know our families are forever bonded. My deepest condolences to Cedric, and all the family and friends. My love to you all, always. Caroline

Dearest Aunty Antoinette… When you come to mind - I remember your lovely smile and the times spent with you. In particular when you, Cedric and John were here in England and I stayed with you for several months at Hampstead. You were always so kind and it brings a smile when I think of our shopping expeditions to Sainsbury’s…. always on the list were chocolate, cream and camembert cheese ! You had the best culinary skills ever! Those were the days ! Much love and sympathy to dear Cedric and all the family. Linda West (niece)

I have many happy memories of dear Aunty Antoinette. Many of these memories relate to babysitting Mark, Brett and John when they lived at Murray’s Bay or just keeping her company and helping with the boys when Uncle Cedric was away at sea. I loved going there as I would often get one of her special chocolates sent over from her Mother in Australia! She was a very special lady, warm and generous, funny with a beautiful smile and always poised and elegant. I feel lucky to have had a lovely visit with Aunty Antoinette, together with cousin Sue, in February of this year when I was over on holiday from the UK. Very sad that I can’t be there for the Service. Sending love and deepest sympathy to Uncle Cedric and all the family. Helen West

To be read at the funeral by my wife, Penny: Antoinette, I am sorry that I am not here to honour you in your passing. I have asked Penny to say my words for me. Every time I hear the Classic Commodores song, I think of you. The words are: “And now that we’ve come to the end of our rainbow There’s something I must say out loud You’re once, twice, three times a lady” And “we” love youou And what is a lady? A lady is loving, kind, compassionate, empathetic, refined, polite, and well-spoken. Someone who makes everyone around her feel loved and respected no matter where she is. A lady is competent in all things and at all times graceful. Antoinette, in my mind, you are the ultimate lady, and the world is poorer for your passing. You are sorely missed.

Our youngest Auntie, bright and bubbly. She really came into Lisbeth's and my early year's as the most helpful and understanding of 'grown ups' at our early age of marriage. Her general help and support, the help with baby cloths etc., ex John and overall support in the 1960's we will not forget. She understood being married at a young age and being happy for so many years with Uncle Cedric - Love the pink

I have very fond memories of Antoinette - she always seemed to be smiling and laughing (apart from the occasional sigh of frustration caused by the boys!). She had a real talent for interior decorating and I remember helping strip wallpaper at Box Hill, and being amazed at the bathroom she had created (a chandelier, ferns and columns, I seem to remember!). I'm very sad that I can't be at the funeral but send condolences and will be thinking of you all.
