One of the most lovely ladies we have had the pleasure to meet. We all met back in the 70's due to Phillip attending Northland College and some how we became friends. Phillip would stay with our family some weekends on our farm in Taheke or in Kaikohe. Then I would go to the Mainland's house for weekends at their Port Albert farm. It was like being at home and I would like to think Phillip felt the same when he was with us. Mr and Mrs Mainland always made me feel like part of the family. Near the end of Phillip attending Northland College he got in a bit of trouble and was removed from the school hostel. With no hesitation he stayed with us, and I remember Mrs Mainland was so happy that my mum became his mum while he was in the far north. We are so sad we can not be there today. Take care Whanau lots of love from the Beverly French clan. PS, Phillip, the electric dog collar is still at home with your name on it. lol.

Go well aunty Dorothy! 🙂thanks for your kindness and generosity and that amazing home baking!! Happy memories of visiting you and noel at Snell's beach and your stories and noel having a special radio where he could listen to the cops in their cars and seeing what they were saying to each other and what was going down..lol 😁 xx

I will always have fond memories of going to visit Aunty Dorothy and Uncle Noel as a kid. Going out on the boat with Uncle Noel and being in awe of all Aunty Dorothy's quilting things in the big basement. My husband and I popped in to see her a couple of years ago and soon after she sent us this beautiful quilt for Lillian our baby girl. It's been a much loved play mat for her as a baby and will be valued in our family for many years to come. I feel privileged to have recieved one of her creations! Farewell Aunty Dorothy, I hope you are enjoying being with Uncle Noel again somehow x

Goodbye Dorothy, You were sweet person and always willing to help others. Not so long ago I wrote and asked if you would write an article about Noel to add to the Mainland Saga. Although I did realise it would have been hard for you to do, you did it with courage. Thank you.
