Peacefully at Taranaki Base Hospital on Saturday 27 May 2023, aged 90.
Devoted husband of the late Merle for 67 years. Loved father and father in-law of Peter, Jennifer, Graham & Carol, Robyn & Kermie and, Lynne & Leon. Cherished Grandad and great grandad of his many grandchildren and great- grandchildren.

A service to celebrate Ian’s life will be held at Hempton Hall, Corner of Carthew Street and Old South Road, Okato, on Friday 2 June 2023, at 1:30pm.

Dearest Ian, I was so sad to read that you have gone to be with your darling Merle. I am honoured to have called you my friends. So sorry that we never got to have that beer for your 90th. You were a great man, soldiering through every adversity that came your way and caring for your Merle ...May you both rest in perfect peace.
Hello family- hello Peter- Years past, and memories can be like yesterday. Sundays at Wainui- Ed cramming a piece of rata into the firebox with Ian looking on concernedy.. Merle presiding over afternoon tea whilst Kath worked and us lot would have been outside keeping out of the road... A lifetime ago, which seems now like yesterday. My condonelces to you and yours- 90 years- what a milestone. RIP Ian
