Kay Kent: 01/03/1931-13/06/2023

Kay trained as a tailor, and in the 1970s-1980s was a fashion designer in Auckland with her own label, Flookies Fashions, which she owned with her then-husband Roger Kent. Her daughter Vivienne Kent is a lecturer in human rights and conflict resolution at AUT University, and her son Michael Kent is a hairdresser at Kent Hair, Takapuna. Kay has three grandchildren: Vivienne's children, Finn, Lia, and Ossian, and a great-grand-daughter, Paloma. Her grandson Finn Andrews is a well-known musician, with his band The Veils. Many people in Devonport will remember Kay for her dressmaking and clothing alteration skills, which she continued to offer right up to her death on 13th June.

Tributes

The gracious and elegant matriarch of a very creative family who were all once involved in Depot Artspace; Lia as Media Manager, Ossian as volunteer, Finn as musician/recording artist and Viv on Board of Trustees. The first family of three generations to be part of this creative community.

Thinking of you Viv and your family. I only met Kay a few times, but you guys are a testament to her kind heart (and stylishness). Blessings on her now. And on you in your loss.
