Elsie Gardner

7 January 194128 June 2023

Elsie passed away peacefully but still fighting till the end with her beloved husband, Derek, at her side - as it was through all 63 years of their married life.

Daughter of the late James and Alice Nuttall, younger sister of the late Jean and Margaret, and Bill.

Dearly loved Mum of Alison and the late Wendy, loved mum-in-law of David, step-grandmother to Suzi and Simon and Felicity, Jonah, Annabelle and Noah, cherished auntie of Beverley, Stephen and Mandi, Lindsey, Dawn, and Gaynor and James, adored great auntie of Nicola, Rebecca, Hannah, Samuel, Zach and Nathan and great great auntie of Ben, Harrison, Charlotte, Noah and James.  Aunt also to Tracey, David, Susan, Keith and the late Iain.

Elsie was a true friend to many and made friends wherever she went.  She loved any occasion where she could be with family and friends and will be sorely missed at all their future gatherings.

A celebration of Elsie's life will be held at the Henderson Methodist Church, 3 Swanson Road, Henderson, on Friday 7th of July at 10.30 am.

In lieu of flowers, donations can be made to Blind Low Vision NZ

My dear Auntie Elsie, Growing up I remember I always loved coming to visit you and Uncle Derek. We’d dance and be silly and you’d always let us entertain you. Thank you for always keeping our favourite chocolates in the bottom drawer. Thank you for being such a wonderful presence in my life. Thanks for always picking me up from the train station or airport when we’d visit from afar. I’m so blessed to have known you. Can’t wait to hug you again one day. I’ll miss you, love you always Hannah xx
