Passed away aged 96 years surrounded by his family at home. Beloved husband of the late Marjorie for 73 years. A quietly generous and humble man of great accomplishment in the law, planning, parks and the environment. A remarkable life of service to New Zealand, of unshakeable faith and loyalty. An inspiration to many. He leaves an immense legacy for future generations. Tributes

It was a privilege to attend Arnold’s funeral on behalf of the Mount Albert Historical Society. Both he and Marjorie were founding members and great stalwarts of our society and contributed their stories and memories to our newsletters over the years. They lived exemplary lives in every respect and set the bar high for their family and many friends. We have indeed lost a totara with Arnold’s death but he will continue to be an inspiration to the many people in the Mount Albert community in particular and to the wider New Zealand society whose lives he made better in his work as a judge, in his passion for justice and for the preservation of our beautiful national parks and reserves for all New Zealanders to share.

Janet von Randow for Mount Albert Historical Society

An amazing man. Loving, caring, thoughtful. He and Aunty Marjorie always welcomed me into their home. They invited me with my parents to many family events. My earliest memory was piggybacking on his shoulders in their older Violet Road home. I loved walking with him near their Titirangi Home. Folk at Auckland Baptist Tabernacle and the Department of Courts told me how much they respected him. Uncle Arnold, you and Aunty Marjorie will always have a place in my heart.
